Driver Robbed at Gunpoint at Shell Station on Santa Rita Road

Victim was filling his tires with air Wednesday night when man with a gun threatened to shoot him if he didn't cooperate.

A man armed with a small silver handgun robbed a driver who was putting air in his tires at the Santa Rita Shell station Wednesday night, according to a Pleasanton Police Department press release.

According to police, the robber threatened to shoot the victim if he didn't cooperate.

Stolen were a watch, wallet, iPhone, Louis Vuitton shoes and belt and a 49er bag containing a #84 Randy Moss jersey and a 49er jacket. The iPhone was later found nearby.

The suspect, described as a white or Hispanic male, left the scene with a woman driving a mid 2000s, two-door, Silver Acura CL, unknown California license plate, heading eastbound on Pimlico. The robbery took place around 9:45 p.m.

The suspect is believed to be 23 to 28 years old, 5’10”, 130-140 pounds, brown eyes, unknown color hair. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, with black baseball cap underneath and blue jeans. The suspect had a dark tattoo, possibly an animal print on the left side of his neck and several days’ worth of facial hair.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact the Pleasanton Police Department at (925) 931-5100.

Our Dear Leader needs to issue some executive orders making robbery illegal. That's the only way to solve this problem.
Julia Remy January 17, 2013 at 01:57 pm
If the driver fled east on Pimlico, then it's the Shell station at Santa Rita and Pimilico near I-580. This article maps the location as the Shell station at Santa Rita and Valley.

Robber had a gun...interesting.
David January 17, 2013 at 02:11 pm
Mind boggling, the executive orders issue earlier that day didn't prevent this crime?
LanaBanana January 17, 2013 at 02:29 pm
David: Don't pretend that you don't know that executive order is not in place yet without approval. And it's not going to be an easy task with sickly obsession with guns. So stop you sarcasm and read more.

Thanks, @Julia: I have adjusted the map. Sometimes our service picks up a general map based on the name of the business in town.

Yep, and the photo is Santa Rita @ Valley as well. Wrong station.

Lana, don't pretend that any of the grandstanding and using kids as props will do anything but further tip the scales in favor of armed criminals.
Autumn Johnson (Editor) January 17, 2013 at 03:39 pm
@Mike: thanks and yes, it is our Shell stock photo.
Weechee Warrick January 17, 2013 at 03:41 pm
Yes that would have been very odd in central pleasanton. I keep my eyes open near the freeways.
Dr Tom January 17, 2013 at 07:55 pm
Exactly. I love the sarcasm. "Yo dude, i wonder why all he guns didn't disappear after yesterdays executive order, dude" On second thought maybe it's not sarcasm. Could just be plain old stupidity. Coming from the gun obsessed, that makes more sense.

That's why I hate the patch. Their always late when reporting the news thats important, like a arm robbery, and they get the wrong location. I guess that's why she works for the Patch, has bad info and contacts. Plus Bay Area news covers more anyway.
Mike smith January 18, 2013 at 01:34 am
Oh and when you read the article in the times, it's the same. Who is plagiarizing who... Great job Autumn... Maybe some journalism classes would help... Oops i forgot. i guess if you had a degree you wouldn't be working for the patch...
Autumn Johnson (Editor) January 18, 2013 at 01:37 am
@Mike: the article is a press release and Nixle Alert from the Pleasanton Police Department.

Mike, what's arm robbery? Talk about those with or without degrees? If you don't like the patch, don't read it, nimrod. Cancel your free subscription. Wait until the evening news hours after patch has posted their stories. Typical modern day online customer. Thinks he's entitled to everything for free and still complains about it. Go away.

Mike sounds like he started drinking early today.

Since so many crimes seem to happen in either Dublin or Pleasanton with easy escapes onto the area freeways, how about our government setting up high quality video cams at freeway onramps, ones that get a GOOD view of every vehicle departing so they can spot vehicles close to the times of each crime. Read the plates. Nail the bastards. Come on, get with it. Oh I forgot, too much money budgeted for the best benefits in the universe and pensions.

It's Pleasanton.. They don't have the money for the cameras..or money for good police officers either. They couldn't catch a armed robber if they walked right past their police car. Thy shoud take tips from other police agencies who have multiple robberies a day, Oakland, Hayward, Antioch, etc...and officers who have great training. Common people its Pleasanton PD...catch who
Clark Kent January 19, 2013 at 05:12 pm
Did he just say Pleasanton should be more like Oakland, Hayward and Antioch because they have MORE robberies? Idiot! I like the cameras at the on-ramp idea though.
Mike smith January 20, 2013 at 03:16 am
No, what I mean is those agencies have armed robberies daily and know how do deal with those types of crimes. Pleasanton is a small town and when a robbery occurs the suspect never gets caught because PPD lacks the know how on what to do and lacks training like other agencies. They need to learn from Oakland Police, Hayward Police or Antioch Police because those agencies deal with robberies on a daily basis. A robbery in Oakland is a noise call in Pleasanton, happens all the time.

So glad they're going to enact all these new gun laws. Crime should drop DRAMATICALLY since the crooks won't be using guns any more! Haaa

Feel better about yourself now? After that needless rant, I'm embarassed for you.
