Enrollment Open for 2012 Teen Citizens’ Police Academy

The is accepting applications from Pleasanton youth for its annual summer Teen Police Academy, a three-week program beginning July 10th. This will be the tenth Teen Academy class the Department has presented and a limited number of openings are available for
enrollment.

The Teen Academy goal is to develop stronger partnerships between the Pleasanton Police Department and youth. Participants will have a unique opportunity to learn about law enforcement procedures from the officers themselves, including such topics as Patrol Procedures, Dispatch Communications, SWAT, Investigations, Juvenile Traffic Issues, K-9, Evidence Collection and Animal Services.

The Academy is offered free of charge to local high school students, between the ages of 14 and 18. This program consists of nine consecutive classes. Most classes are held from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with exceptions for graduation and field trips. Classes will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays on the following dates: July 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, and will conclude with a graduation dinner on Thursday, July 26th, 2012.
