A dry cleaning business located at 5682 Stoneridge Drive in Pleasanton caught fire at about 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, fire officials say.
Livermore Pleasanton Fire Battalion Chief Jack Neiman-Kimel told Patch, via email:
"On arrival there was heavy smoke coming from the dry cleaning business. The building was equipped with fire sprinklers and the sprinklers were activated once the clothes on the conveyor system ignited. The sprinklers were able to keep the fire in check until we could make access and extinguish the fire."
Neiman-Kimel says that after the fire at Hacienda Cleaners was extinguished, businesses nearby were checked to see if the fire had spread. According to Neiman-Kimel, all smoke was removed from all of the businesses affected in the shopping center.
"Fire damage was confined to the dry cleaners while water and smoke damage was spread to all store fronts in the strip mall," Neiman-Kimel said. "One civilian sustained smoke inhalation and was treated and transported to the hospital by Paramedics Plus."
No fire personnel were injured during this fire.
