UPDATE: Firefighters Extinguish Garage Fire

Firefighters on Friday responded to a report of a structure fire on the 4100 block of Walnut Drive in Pleasanton.

Updated information provided by the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department:

On March 1, 2013 the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 4121 Walnut St., Pleasanton Ca.  Four Engine Companies, 1 Truck Company, and two chief officers responded to the incident.  A total of 19 personnel from the LPFD responded to this incident.

The fire was reported at 11:27 a.m., and the first Engine Company arrived at 11:33 a.m.  A fire was located in the garage, and extinguished by 11:43 a.m.  The fire was contained to the garage.  There were no injuries.  The cause was discarded smoking material in a plastic garbage can inside the garage.  Damage to the structure and garage contents was minimal.  The dollar loss amount has not yet been determined.

The LPFD advises to fully extinguish smoking material before discarding, and never in a combustible container from where a fire could spread.

Firefighters appear to have cleared a Friday afternoon structure fire reported on the 4100 block of Walnut Drive in Pleasanton.

Emergency crews responded to the area, near Stanley Boulevard, just before 11:30 a.m., according to the activity log on the PulsePoint mobile application.

A battalion chief, four engines and a fire truck responded to the blaze.
