Pleasanton Resident Faced Major Flooding at Home This Morning

Firefighters responded and 50 sandbags were needed to help stop the deluge

The homeowners at 5575 Serenity Terrace in Pleasanton called 911 to report major flooding in their garage this morning at 5:41 a.m., Livermore Pleasanton Fire Battalion Chief Joe Testa said.

"Their garage and driveway are downhill from the street and the rainwater was flowing down toward the house," he said. "We used large squeegees that we carry to squeegee out the garage. The city brought about 55 sandbags to control the water."

Testa said the damage in the garage appeared to be minimal. The home is on the west side of town off Foothill Road.

"If you have flooding you should call the fire department as we can have equipment that can usually prevent damage from occurring," said Testa. "Although we did not use them in this case, we do have water vacuums as well."

Testa says a crew of 13 firefighters and a battalion chief were able to stop the flooding.

"We had two units from Livermore Pleasanton Fire and one unit from Alameda County Fire," he commented.

There we no injuries reported during the incident.
