Friends of Beating Victim Encouraged by His Progress

David Lamont, 51, has been in a coma since his arrival at the Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley last month.

Friends of a Pleasanton man who was found beaten unconscious on Middleton Place on Sept. 21 are encouraged by small changes in his condition.

A friend of the family, who asked to remain anonymous due to fear of retaliation, says that since 51-year-old David Lamont was hospitalized in a coma, he has had several surgeries to relieve the swelling in his brain.

"Dave is starting to flutter open his eyes and is now responding a bit to pain," said the friend.

Cindy Dove, spokesperson for the Eden Medical Center, says Lamont is still comatose and his condition remains serious.

Police investigators have identified three Pleasanton teens and an 18-year-old man from outside the area who were present when Lamont was knocked unconscious.

Investigators say there are no new details to report.

A Middleton Place resident, who wishes not to be identified due to the violent nature of the crime, says that since the attack, teens have not been seen in the once popular cul-de-sac and that more police have been seen in the area.

According to his LinkedIn page, Lamont is a "Pro marketer of storage, security and data management products, entrepreneur, and an editor."

Lamont has severe head injuries and has been comatose at the Eden Trauma Center in Castro Valley. Lamont's wife, Agnes Lamont, has been with him at the hospital since the incident. Lamont has two daughters.
