Giant Toppled Tree Blocking Valley Avenue

The road is shut down in the eastbound direction between Northway and Crestline.

A giant redwood that crashed through a retaining wall during Sunday's stormy weather is blocking Valley Avenue.

Police have shut down Valley in the eastbound direction between Northway and Crestline while crews saw through the massive branches and feed them through a woodchipper.

The tree, growing in the back yard of a home on the corner of Crestline and Valley, fell directly across two lanes of traffic.

It's unknown when the road will be reopened.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Alameda County. Wind gusts of up to 40 mph have been reported in the Bay Area.

This is great to hear! By chance, do you know if the man who helped was Roy Fickin?

So glad you got this resolved. When I saw your plea for help, I put in a call to Public Works andRead More they transferred me to Police/Animal Services. They told me that someone had already been dispatched.

Many thanks to Police/Animal Services. Next order of business is to educate residents not to allowRead More ducks to nest on their property that is not adjacent to natural waterways or canals - it may seem cute, but it's cruel when the mama duck loses babies to cats and storm drains.
