Kids Home Alone Call 9-1-1 Leading to Arrest of Burglary Suspect

The juveniles hid in the bedroom and called 911.

From the Pleasanton Police Department:

On February 11th, 2013 at 2:45 P.M. Pleasanton Police Patrol Units responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Briones Lane for a reported in-progress burglary. Two juveniles were home alone when a white male adult suspect began forcing entry into the side garage door.

The juveniles hid in a bedroom and one of them called 911 as the suspect made entry into the residence. Police units quickly responded and established a perimeter around the house and adjacent residences. At that time several officers entered the home to safely retrieve the juveniles and locate the suspect. The juveniles were located unharmed and were escorted from the residence, however the suspect was not inside.

A Livermore Police Department K-9 unit responded and assisted Pleasanton officers in an extensive search of neighboring residences and yards for the suspect. The suspect was ultimately located hiding within the perimeter in an adjacent yard and was taken into custody. Property stolen from the residence
was located nearby.

The suspect has been identified as 34-year-old Christopher Chase of Discovery Bay. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail for suspicion of 460 (a) P.C: First Degree Burglary.

Kamp Drive was closed to vehicle traffic for about 90 minutes during this incident. The Police Department also utilized the GeoCast automated communicator system to notify residents in the area to stay inside for their own safety.
