Livermore Man Arrested on Suspicion of Assaulting Pig at Alameda County Fair

Reports say James Anthony Horn, 22, was arrested after witnesses said he struck pig on the head and buttocks and pulled the six-month-old pig's ears and tail.

A 22-year-old Livermore man was arrested Tuesday at the Alameda County Fair for allegedly slapping a show pig and pulling its ears and tail, according to a San Jose Mercury News report.

Further details from the article by Bay Area News Group Reporter Robert Jordan:

James Anthony Horn, 22, was arrested at 7:50 p.m. in the barn area by an Alameda County Sheriff's deputy after witnesses said Horn hit it with his hand on the head and buttocks and pulled the six-month-old pig's ears and tail, according to court records.

Horn appeared in Pleasanton court Friday and was released by a judge, but was ordered to stay away from the fair, to not drink alcohol and to attend Alcoholic Anonymous meetings twice a week, according to the report.

@Bret: You should tread lightly when if comes to the literacy level of todays young adults. Public education in this country is atrocious. And thanks to people like Pete Stark and the teachers unions it will never get any better. I work with people who can barely spell, construct a proper sentence or do some basic arithmetic. I wonder how in hell did they ever graduate from high school much less have a degree from college. As for that drunk little creep who slaps pigs. He should spend the rest of his summer mucking out livestock stalls. And on weekends he should hold a sign out in front of Safeway with a dunce cap on stating "I abuse animals for kicks" Thats the only help he needs.

Yes, that is where our meat comes from Julie, not Safeway. But many times persons at these auctions will pay the money and return the animal to the 4H member or FFA member. Most do go with the buyers and many are turned into dinner, but not all. Former 4H'er and FFA member.

As a former. 4Her and FFAer in my opinion the issue here is not the slapping of the pig!!! The real issue is allowing alcohol in the barn area this is an event for minors!!!
