UPDATE: Couple Targeted up to 10 Doctors in Pleasanton Drug Scheme

Christina Singleterry was allegedly writing fake prescriptions for herself and her boyfriend with her boss's info, and planned to target other doctors in the area

A Livermore couple was charged in a Pleasanton prescription fraud scheme Thursday, and police say it's bigger than what they initially thought.

Christina Marie Singleterry, 24, and Evan Derek Becker, 27, were arrested after the Pleasanton Police Department Special Enforcement Unit served a search warrant on their Livermore home, said Sgt. Mark Reimer.

Singleterry, who worked at a Pleasanton doctor's office as a medical assistant, had been allegedly forging prescriptions for addictive narcotic pills like Vicodin and Oxycontin since 2009, according to police. She also allegedly forged prescriptions for Becker.

Police are in the process of contacting other doctors in the area that Singleterry was allegedly targeting — up to 10 different doctors, police said.

"We're in the process of contacting everyone and having them audit their prescriptions to see if in fact they were victimized," Reimer said.

Singleterry had access to other doctors' personal information, for example, if her employer was out of town and another doctor filled in, Reimer said.

The two were charged with a total of 32 counts of prescription fraud.

The Thursday search turned up prescription pills and evidence of a great deal of fraudulent activity, Reimer said.

Singleterry is being held at the Santa Rita Jail in lieu of $640,000 bail. Becker is out on $20,000 bail.

Pleasanton police are asking for help from anyone who may have additional information. Contact Sgt. Mark Reimer at 925-931-5170.
