Chenkovich, who recently retired, was selected as the 2013 Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department (LPFD) Firefighter of the Year

The 48-year-old fire captain succumbed to job-related brain cancer on Nov. 5 after fighting the fight of his life for three years.

Services for Chenkovich will be held on Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. at the St. Augustine Church in Pleasanton.
