LPFD Responds to Reported Fire at Tea Party Leader's Pleasanton Home

Bridget Melson and her family were safe after a chimney fire in their Pleasanton Hills home.

The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department responded to the house of Bridget Melson, Pleasanton Tea Party leader, on April 21 at about 8:50 p.m. because of a reported chimney fire.

Melson said she, her husband and three children were able to leave the house safely after making the call. She said the inside and top of her chimney caught fire, which resulted in sparks and and a loud noise.

"My husband said it sounded like a jet engine,"according to Melson.

She said that there was not much damage to the house except for ash in her backyard. Melson lives in the Pleasanton Hills neighborhood.

Throughout the ordeal, Melson updated friends about the situation through her Facebook page.
