Shootings in Pleasanton are rare. The most recent incident occured in August of 2010, when a San Ramon teen shot at a Pleasanton man — and missed — during a robbery.

The club is in a strip mall space that has been home to upscale bars under several incarnations over the years, including ShBoom, Aura and Status, which boasted of its Vegas-style bottle service and brought in big name D.J.s and mid-level celebrities, including Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino from "Jersey Shore."

Police estimate that there were about 450 people at the club when the fight broke out. The scheduled Saturday night entertainment was DJ Inferno. The club is only open Friday and Saturday nights, according to its Facebook page, from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m.

Officers interviewed security bouncers and witnesses in the area but have not identified a suspect. The investigation is ongoing.

According to city planning records, the city asked the club to have security cameras and to search customers coming inside as a precaution. The club responded saying, "We do not anticipate (problems) with the crowd we are catering to, but it is just a precaution." Based on the agreement with the city, at least six security guards should have been on duty Saturday night.

Patch has been unable to reach the club owners for comment. An email to the club was not returned as of Sunday afternoon.

Anyone who witnessed the crime or has information pertinent to this investigation is asked to call the Pleasanton Police Department at 925-931-5100.
