Motorist Injured After Monday Collision With Genentech Bus

Accident occurred 5:30 p.m. along Rosewood Drive.

A motorist was reportedly transported to a hospital Monday after colliding with a Genentech Inc. commuter bus, carrying employees of the biotech firm, shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Rosewood Drive.

The bus driver and Genentech workers onboard were not injured, said Nadine Pinell, a Genentech spokesperson.

A passerby, who arrived at the scene minutes after the accident, said it appeared the bus was taking a left turn from a corporate parking lot onto Rosewood when it collided with a gold-colored SUV.

"The SUV smashed right into the left, rear quarter panel of the bus," said the individual, who did not want to be named.

"The damage to the bus was huge to the rear left area," the observer added.

No information was immediately available as to the condition of the motorist.

South San Francisco-based Genentech offers the shuttle service to its workers who reside in the Tri-Valley area, according to the company.

"Our thoughts are with the driver and the driver's family," said Pinell, Genentech's senior manager of external communications. "We send our best wishes for a speedy and full recovery."
