Murder Victim Found in Trash Can Identified as Stockton Woman; Suspect Arrested

Ana Flores-Pineda of Stockton has been identified as the woman found in a Pleasanton trash can in May. Stockton police have arrested Javier Prado Sandoval, 30, in connection to her death on Wednesday

The mystery woman that was found in a Pleasanton trash can in May has been identified and a suspect has been arrested in connection to her death, the Pleasanton Police Department announced in a press release on Wednesday.

The woman has been identified as Ana Flores-Pineda, a 25-year-old from Stockton.

Stockton police detectives arrested Javier Prado Sandoval, 30, in connection to her death on Wednesday. Pleasanton police say Sandoval will be booked at San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of murder.

Sandoval was Flores-Pineda's boyfriend and he is suspected of killing her in Stockton and taking the body to Pleasanton, according to media reports.

Flores-Pineda was declared missing on June 12, after a missing person report was filed with the Stockton Police Department.

Stockton and Pleasanton investigators worked together to identify the victim in the trash can as Flores-Pineda.

Pleasanton police first discovered Flores-Pineda dead around 11 a.m. on May 24. She was in a trash can on Dublin Canyon Road.

On June 6, Pleasanton police released a sketch of the woman (the photo on this article). The Alameda County Coroner's Office couldn't identify her, but said she was about 5-foot-6, 130 pounds and likely Hispanic or Asian.

The coroner's office couldn't determine the cause of death.

Six days after the sketch was released, Flores-Pineda was declared missing.

Pleasanton police say the investigation is currently ongoing and will release further details at a later date.

Pleasanton police ask citizens who might have information regarding the incident to contact the Stockton Police Department Investigations Division at 209-937-8323 or police dispatch at 209-937-9377. Detective Betti is investigating this incident.
