Dublin Shooting: Neighbor Says Suspect Had Knife in Street Before

Neighbor Albert Ybarra said he heard three shots and that the suspect has been in the street before with a knife.

A neighbor of the man shot by a Dublin Police officer on Wednesday told Patch he heard loud arguing and looked down the street, where he saw the officer "taking aim" at something behind a truck.

"I couldn't see what he was aiming at," said Albert Ybarra, a resident of the 7500 block of Frederiksen Lane, where on Friday morning police shot and wounded a 28-year-old man they said was wielding a large "Rambo-style" knife. "It was something on the other side of (the suspect's father's) truck."

I have learned that mental illness has a certain stigma attached. I have always tried to keep Ryan's illness within the family and private. I have not been able to talk to my son or a single medical person about his condition. He has not been charged yet therefore I cannot obtain an attorney to check on his physical and mental condition. I hope this incident will give me a tool to get more permanent help for Ryan. I want to thank all of you. For your empathy, advice and every comment.

You may be right or you may be a fool. The ante has been upped by too many officers getting shot needlessly trying to reason with unreasonable of incoherent perps. Maybe you've been watching too many episodes of shows with police psychologists on the street in these situations. In real life, it's shoot or be killed. It's a wonder you've survived 50 years here....
