Pleasanton Family Scammed on Disneyland Trip

A Bay Area family ends up not-so-happy at the "happiest place on earth." The $800 tickets likely to have been bought, voided and then sold to the victim.

A Bay Area family ended up not-so-happy at the "happiest place on earth" when they found out the tickets they bought on Craiglist were worthless.

A family from Pleasanton bought $800 worth of tickets to Disneyland in July and when they drove down to use them, they discovered the tickets were fake, according to the Tri-Valley News.

Pleasanton Police confirm the scam and says there have been two other similar, although unrelated, cases.

"We have had two other cases such as this and have cleared both.  The description on this most recent case is not consistent with the other suspects," said Sgt. Kurt Schlehuber.  "I do not feel they are related.  It is just a popular scam because people are still falling for it. "

Tri-Valley News reports that tickets were likely to have been bought, voided and then sold to the victim. No suspects have been arrested in this case.

recommends buyers avoid making theses types of purchases on Craigslist and that they only go through authorized ticket sellers.

Go figure...trying to do it on the cheap and gets burned. If it seems to good to be true...or if it's a deal on Craigslist, buyer beware. They're lucky they didn't get mugged by the seller.
