Police and Fire Beat: Cops Deal with Burglaries, Thefts Throughout Week
A list of notable incidents from Feb. 14 to Feb. 21.
Copper wire, iPods and Oakland Raiders memorabilia were among the items stolen last week; police were called to a burglary or theft incident most days. Also, investigators are looking into a suspicious death reported Monday.
Monday, Feb. 21
- Police Investigating Suspicious Death: A body was found about 7:20 a.m. at the foot of an embankment near Valley and Case avenues. For more information, read .
- A commercial burglary in which the front door was smashed in was reported on the 4200 block of Stanley Boulevard at 7:38 a.m.
- A commercial burglary was reported on the 3600 block of Old Santa Rita Road at Finishing Edge at 9:43 a.m.
- A gray 2009 Simms motorcycle was reported stolen on the 1700 block of Santa Rita Road at 3:33 p.m.

- Vehicular burglary was reported on the 1500 block of Trimingham Drive at 10:14 a.m.
- Vehicular burglary of a stereo worth $500 taken was reported on the 1000 block of Stoneridge Mall Road at 5:55 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 19
- A traffic collision was reported on I-580 eastbound near Foothill Road at 11:28 a.m.
- A 28-year-old man was arrested at 7:52 p.m. and charged with battery.
- Vehicular burglary in which a window was smashed and a GPS unit worth $150 was taken was reported on the 1000 block of Stoneridge Mall Road at 7:58 p.m.
- A report of an individual driving under the influence at the intersection of Sunol Boulevard and Bernal Avenue was called in at 10:38 p.m.

- A traffic collision involving a bicyclist was reported on the 3900 block of West Las Positas Boulevard at 10 a.m.
- Thousands of Feet of Copper Wire Missing: Theft of about 15,000 feet of copper wire was reported on Stoneridge Drive at 10:28 a.m.
- A traffic collision was reported on the 2700 block of Willowren Way at 2:53 p.m.
- A 23-year-old man was arrested at 11:32 p.m. and charged with public intoxication.
- A 23-year-old man was arrested at 11:59 p.m. and charged with public intoxication.
Thursday, Feb. 17
- Firefighters put out a blaze at a home on the 9000 block of Longview Drive about 10:04 a.m. For more information, read .
- A 25-year-old man was arrested at 4:36 p.m. and charged with possession of paraphernalia.
- A 38-year-old man was arrested at 4:47 p.m. and charged with possession of paraphernalia and marijuana and parole violation.
- Vandalism was reported on the 5500 block of Springhouse Drive at 11:45 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 16
- A traffic collision was reported at the intersection of Stoneridge Drive and Trevor Parkway at 1:33 a.m.
- A 49-year-old man was arrested at 6 a.m. and charged with public intoxication.
- A theft in which a trumpet in its case worth $2,500 was taken was reported on the 1100 block of Santa Rita Road at 1:26 p.m.
- A residential burglary in which a Smith & Wesson handgun worth $400 was taken was reported on the 1900 block of Brooktree Way at 4:10 p.m.
- A fire and smoking electrical box were reported at 24-Hour Fitness on the 4700 block of Willow Road at 4:23 p.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 15
- A traffic collision involving two vehicles was reported at the intersection of Stoneridge Drive and Hopyard Road at 6:57 a.m.
- A 28-year-old man was arrested at 2:05 p.m. and charged with petty theft.
- A traffic collision involving a vehicle and bicyclist was reported at the intersection of Stanley Boulevard and Valley Avenue at 3:01 p.m.
- A residential burglary in which computer equipment and a framed Rich Gannon jersey worth more than $1,000 was taken was reported on the 1500 block of Trimingham Drive at 4:37 p.m.
Monday, Feb. 14
- Vehicular burglary was reported on the 1400 block of East Gate Way at 7 a.m.
- Theft was reported on the 2600 block of Chocolate Street at 8:25 a.m.
- Vehicular burglary in which a car stereo and iPod worth more than $500 was taken was reported on the 5600 block of Owens Drive at 7:35 p.m.
