Police and Fire Beat: Jewelry Worth Thousands Stolen in Home Burglary

A list of notable incidents from Jan. 31 to Feb. 6.

In the last week, Pleasanton police dealt with several burglaries, including one Thursday at a home on Valley Trails Drive in which more than $7,500 in jewelry was stolen.  The next day, police responded to a commercial burglary to Viva Yogurt Café in which equipment was stolen.

Sunday, Feb. 6

  • An 18-year-old man was arrested at 1:53 a.m.  He was charged with driving under the influence.
  • Vandalism was reported on the 6000 block of Hansen Drive at 8:50 a.m.

Saturday, Feb. 5

  • A 25-year-old man was arrested at 1 a.m.  He was charged with public intoxication.
  • Vehicular burglary was reported on the 2500 block of Santa Rita Road at 2:45 p.m.
  • A 43-year-old man was arrested at 3:25 p.m.  He was charged with petty theft.
  • A vehicle fire was reported at the intersection of Owens and Hacienda drives at 4:28 p.m.  The car overheated and no smoke was reported.

Friday, Feb. 4

  • A 22-year-old man was arrested at 12:09 a.m.  He was charged with public intoxication.
  • Cafe Burglarized: A commercial burglary to Viva Yogurt Café on the 3000 block of Hopyard Road was reported at 9:47 a.m.  A rear door was reportedly smashed and computer and coffee equipment was stolen.

Thursday, Feb. 3

  • Thousands in Jewelry Stolen: A residential burglary was reported on the 7100 block of Valley Trails Drive at 7:59 a.m.  More than $7,500 in jewelry was reported stolen.
  • A blue 1984 Toyota SR5 was reported stolen from the 800 block of Division Street at 9:41 a.m.
  • Vehicular burglary was reported on the 3500 block of Bernal Avenue at 9:43 a.m.  A window was reportedly smashed and credits cards were stolen.
  • A traffic collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian was reported at the intersection of Rappolla Court and Florian Street at 7:52 p.m.  Leg pain was the only reported injury.

Wednesday, Feb. 2

  • A 24-year-old man was arrested at 2:13 a.m.  He was charged with driving under the influence.
  • Battery was reported on the 1100 block of Santa Rita Road at 3 p.m.
  • A traffic collision was reported at the merge of I-580 eastbound and I-680 northbound at 7:35 p.m.  A vehicle fell down a ravine.

Tuesday, Feb. 1

  • Burglary was reported on the 4300 block of Railroad Avenue at 10:14 a.m.  An iPod and other personal items worth more than $350 were reported stolen.
  • A commercial burglary was reported to Soma Environmental on the 6600 block of Owens Drive.  Items worth $400 were reported stolen.

Monday, Jan. 31

  • A 43-year-old man was arrested at 2:30 p.m. He was charged with shoplifting, possession of paraphernalia and probation violation.
  • Vehicular burglary was reported on the 5100 block of Case Avenue at 7:39 p.m.
