Police and Fire Logs: Burglaries Hit Chabot Drive Businesses

A list of notable incidents from April 4 to April 10.

In the past week, police reported several burglaries, including two on April 8 in which computer equipment worth thousands of dollars were stolen.  The burglariezed businesses, Innovative Machine Solutions and Iron Planet, were both on Chabot Drive and reported the burglaries that morning.  There was also a car burglary on April 6 in which thousands of dollars in computer equipment was also stolen.

Monday, April 4

  • About 10 gallons of oil spilled onto I-580 westbound in Castro Valley, blocking a lane of traffic.  For more read .
  • Petty theft was reported on the 1100 block of Santa Rita Road at 4:35 p.m.
  • A small fire was reported at the intersection of Adobe Court and Holland Drive at 8:30 p.m.  The incident was found to be someone burning branches in their backyard.
  • A 21-year-old woman was arrested at 11:48 p.m.  She was charged with driving under the influence.

Tuesday, April 5

  • A traffic collision was reported at the intersection of Santa Rita Road and Pimlico Drive at 1:29 p.m. 
  • A 32-year-old man was arrested at 4:07 p.m.  He was charged with public intoxication.
  • Vehicular burglary was reported on the 3900 block of Santa Rita Road at 6:28 p.m.

Wednesday, April 6

  • A traffic collision was reported on I-580 westbound near Hopyard Road at 5:42 a.m.
  • Petty theft was reported on the 4500 block of Mirador Drive at 10:05 a.m.
  • Petty theft was reported on the 4100 block of Vineyard Avenue at 10:40 a.m.
  • Vehicular burglary was reported at the intersection of Hacienda Drive and Owens Drive at 12:12 p.m.  Computer equipment worth $4,500 was reported missing.
  • A traffic collision involving three vehicles was reported at the intersection of Stanley Boulevard and Bernal Avenue at 5:16 p.m.

Thursday, April 7

  • A traffic collision involving two vehicles was reported on the 5600 block of Stoneridge Drive at 5:26 p.m.
  • A fire was reported at Del Prado Apartments on the 5100 block of Golden Road at 6:52 p.m. in an apartment.  Smoke was seen coming from the top floor and a fire alarm was heard.  The fire was found to be a pot that was on fire and was extinguished.
  • A 32-year-old man was arrested at 11:47 p.m.  He was charged with driving under the influence.

Friday, April 8

  • A commercial burglary was reported on the 4600 block of Chabot Drive at Iron Planet at 9:13 a.m.  Computer equipment worth more than $2,000 was reported missing.
  • A commercial burglary was reported on the 4600 block of Chabot Drive at Innovative Machine Solutions at 10:36 a.m.  Computer equipment worth more than $2,000 was reported missing.
  • A traffic collision was reported on I-580 eastbound near Hopyard Road at 10:51 a.m.
  • A residential burglary was reported on the 4000 block of Jensen Street at 10:52 a.m.  A sliding glass door was reportedly smashed in the burglary.

Saturday, April 9

  • A 26-year-old man was arrested at 12:31 a.m.  He was charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • A 32-year-old man was arrested at 1:29 a.m.  He was charged with public intoxication.
  • A 35-year-old man was arrested at 8:55 a.m.  He was charged with public intoxication.
  • A 38-year-old woman was arrested at 9:31 p.m.  She was charged with theft.

Sunday, April 10

  • A 24-year-old man was arrested at 2:16 a.m.  He was charged with public intoxication.
  • A 46-year-old man was arrested at 8:43 a.m.  He was charged with battery.
  • A traffic collision involving a vehicle striking a tree was reported at the intersection of Bernal Avenue and Palomino Drive at 9:46 a.m.
  • A blue two-door 2010 Toyota Corrolla rental car was reported stolen on the 5300 block of Owen Drive at Best Western at 10:31 a.m.
  • A 19-year-old man was arrested at 3:01 p.m.  He was charged with fraud.
  • A 50-year-old man was arrested at 10:32 p.m.  He was charged with domestic violence.
