Police and Fire Logs: Car Windows Smashed in Burglaries

A list of notable incidents from March 20 to March 27.

In the past week, Pleasanton police saw a handful of car burglaries in which windows were smashed and items taken from vehicles. Three such burglaries were reported on March 22, with others on March 23 and 24.  On Friday, a car collided with a home’s garage but no major damage was reported.  Also, two cars were reported stolen last week, one from the Alameda County Fairgrounds on Saturday.

Sunday, March 20

  • A traffic collision was reported on I-580 westbound near Tassajara Road at 9:37 a.m.
  • A 34-year-old man was arrested at 5:04 p.m.  He was charged with threatening with a firearm.
  • A 42-year-old man was arrested at 7:27 p.m.  He was charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Monday, March 21

  • A 26-year-old man was arrested at 2:22 p.m.  He was charged with driving under the influence and public intoxication.
  • A 39-year-old man was arrested at 2:30 p.m.  He was charged with public intoxication.
  • Vandalism was reported on the 3400 block of Nevada Court at 2:47 p.m.
  • Vandalism was reported on the 400 block of Amaral Circle at 6:03 p.m.
  • A 67-year-old man was arrested at 7:23 p.m.  He was charged with domestic violence.

Tuesday, March 22

  • A traffic collision involving two vehicles was reported at the intersection of Hopyard Road and Stoneridge Drive at 8:32 a.m.
  • A vehicular burglary was reported at Visual Eyes Optometry on the 4500 block of Hopyard Road at 11:43 a.m.  A car window was reportedly smashed and a purse containing credit cards was stolen.
  • A vehicular burglary was reported at Heads Up! on the 4600 block of Chabot Drive at 9:01 p.m.  A car window was reportedly smashed.
  • A vehicular burglary was reported on the 4800 block of Hopyard Road at 10:04 p.m.  A car window was reportedly smashed.

Wednesday, March 23

  • Petty theft was reported on the 1100 block of Santa Rita Road at 9:57 a.m.
  • A vehicular burglary was reported on the 2100 block of Rheem Drive at Daggett Electric Inc. at 10:13 a.m.  A car window was reportedly smashed.
  • Petty theft was reported on the 5400 block of Sunol Boulevard at 1:08 p.m.
  • A 41-year-old man was arrested at 8:05 p.m.  He was charged with domestic violence.

Thursday, March 24

  • A traffic collision was reported on I-580 westbound near Hopyard Road at 11:19 a.m.
  • An 18-year-old woman was arrested at 4:30 p.m.  She was charged with petty theft.
  • A residential burglary was reported on the 7600 block of Cottonwood Lane at 8:26 p.m.
  • A vehicular burglary was reported at Sheraton Four Points on the 5100 block of Hopyard Road at 10:05 p.m.  A car window was reportedly smashed.

Friday, March 25

  • A traffic collision involving a vehicle hitting a tree was reported at the intersection of Dublin Canyon and Foothill roads at 12:33 a.m.
  • A residential burglary was reported on the 3400 block of Andrews Drive at 10:05 a.m.
  • A 21-year-old woman was arrested at 11:17 a.m.  She was charged with battery.
  • Garage Damaged In Crash: A traffic collision involving a vehicle hitting a home’s garage was reported on the 3600 block of Annis Circle at 11:41 p.m.  Moderate damage was reported.

Saturday, March 26

  • Vandalism was reported on the 700 block of Main Street at 12:49 p.m.
  • A 42-year-old man was arrested at 2:58 p.m.  He was charged with public disturbance.
  • Kitchen Fire:  A structure fire was reported on the 5300 block of Northway Road at 12:27 p.m.  The home was evacuated and two elderly residents were treated for minor smoke inhalation.  A microwave was reportedly the fire’s source.
  • A yellow and black 1970 Plymouth Duster was reported stolen from the west parking lot on the Alameda County Fairgrounds on 4500 block of Pleasanton Avenue at 3:15 p.m. 

Sunday, March 27

  • An 18-year-old woman was arrested at 12:04 a.m.  She was charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance.
  • A 21-year-old man was arrested at 12:12 a.m.  He was charged with public intoxication.
  • A 27-year-old man was arrested at 12:35 a.m.  He was charged with vandalism.
  • A 24-year-old woman was arrested at 1:05 a.m.  She was charged with public intoxication.
  • A 23-year-old woman was arrested at 1:35 a.m.  She was charged with driving under the influence.
  • A traffic collision involving a vehicle hitting a tree was reported at the intersection of Regency Drive and Medallion Court at 4:17 a.m. 
  • A gray 1987 Toyota 4-Runner was reported stolen from the 4500 block of Pleasanton Avenue at 10 a.m. 
  • A commercial burglary at a sports medicine office was reported on the 5000 block of Pleasanton Avenue at 1:21 p.m.  Checks and cash worth more than $1,200 were stolen from a safe and a 32-inch television and football signed by John Madden were reported missing.
