Police and Fire Logs: Security Footage Leads to Burglary Suspects; Cars Burglarized for Tools

A list of notable incidents from July 25 to July 31.

Last Monday, Pleasanton Police followed up on a resident’s report that home security footage caught two people trying to break into his vehicle on Medallion Court. 

The investigation led to arrests of an 18-year-old man and 20-year-old man, both from San Ramon.

Also that day, police dealt with two burglaries in which tools were stolen, one involved a vehicle and the other involved a home. In the morning burglary, Big D Pacific Builders reported break-ins into two vehicles that contained more than $1,000 in tools, also reported stolen.

Monday, July 25

  • Two Locals Arrested on Burglary Charges:  Two men from San Ramon, an 18-year-old and 20-year-old, were arrested on charges of burglary.  The 18-year-old was also arrested on charges of prowling, possession of burglary tools and vehicle tampering, while the 20-year-old was also arrested on charges of possession of stolen property.  A resident reported viewing surveillance footage of the men trying to break into his vehicle at his Medallion Court home at about 5 a.m.  A police investigation led to the suspects, who were both arrested by 7:40 a.m. To read more, click .
  • Car Vandalized, Tools Stolen:  Vehicular burglary was reported on the 6200 block of Stoneridge Mall Drive at Big D Pacific Builders at 9:01 a.m. A pry tool was reportedly used on chrome steel toolboxes of two vehicles, causing $1,000 in damage. Tools, including extension cords, power tools, hand tools and first aid kits, worth more than $1,000 were reported stolen.
  • Residential burglary was reported on the 7500 block of Stonedale Drive at 7:03 p.m. Gardening tools and an extension cord worth $45 were reported stolen.

  • Petty theft was reported on the 3800 block of Hopyard Road at 7:42 a.m.
  • A stove fire was reported at Stoneridge Apartments on the 6300 block of Stoneridge Mall Road at 12:23 p.m. 
  • A traffic collision was reported on the 5300 block of Owens Drive at 9:10 p.m.

Wednesday, July 27

  • Vehicular burglary was reported on the 3000 block of Badger Drive at 8:51 a.m.
  • A traffic collision was reported at the merge of I-580 eastbound and I-680 southbound at 5:43 p.m.
  • A traffic collision was reported at the intersection of Foothill Road and Verona Road at 8:07 p.m.

Thursday, July 28

  • Commercial burglary was reported at Wal-Mart on the 4500 block of Rosewood Drive at 1:32 p.m.
  • A traffic collision involving a pedestrian was reported at the intersection of Owens Drive and Rosewood Drive at 5:52 p.m.
  • A traffic collision involving a bicyclist was reported at the intersection of Vineyard Avenue and Ruby Hill Boulevard at 7:18 p.m.
  • Burglary was reported on the 3200 block of Ruby Hill Drive at 8:10 p.m. A purse, documents, credit cards and $400 in cash were reported missing.

Friday, July 29

  • A traffic collision involving an overturned vehicle was reported at the merge of I-580 eastbound and I-680 southbound at 2:44 a.m.
  • A trashcan fire was reported at Nielsen Park on the 3700 block of Stoneridge Drive at 4:28 a.m.  Smoke was reported from the trashcan after juveniles placed firecrackers in it.
  • Theft was reported on the 3000 block of Tonopah Circle at 5:07 a.m.  A catalytic converter worth $1,500 was reported stolen.
  • A traffic collision involving a bicycle was reported at the intersection of Bernal Avenue at Koll Center Drive at 9:04 a.m.
  • Pleasanton Man Arrested in Livermore:  A 35-year-old Pleasanton man was arrested at 2:53 p.m. in Livermore on charges of possession of burglary tools. For more read .
  • Theft was reported at Sunglass Hut on the 1000 block of Stoneridge Mall Road at 6:22 p.m.

Saturday, July 30

  • A 26-year-old man was arrested at 2:32 a.m. on charges of driving under influence.
  • A grass fire was reported on I-680 southbound near Bernal Avenue at 7:41 a.m.
  • Smoke was reported coming from a vehicle on I-680 southbound near Bernal Avenue at 3:32 p.m.

Sunday, July 31

  • A traffic collision involving a motorcycle was reported at the merge of I-580 eastbound and I-680 northbound at 10:11 a.m.
  • Fraud was reported on the 4500 block of Rosewood Drive at 6:06 p.m.
  • A traffic collision was reported at the merge of I-580 westbound and I-680 south at 7:20 p.m.
  • A traffic collision was reported at the intersection of Busch Road and Valley Avenue at 8:49 p.m.
  • A traffic collision involving a pedestrian was reported on the 7200 block of Valley Trails Drive at 9:34 p.m.
  • An 18-year-old man was arrested at 11:43 p.m. on charges of burglary.
