Police and Fire Logs: Sports Chalet, Wal-Mart Burglarized; Trash Can Fire Reported at Foothill High

A list of notable incidents from March 27 to April 3.

Two small fires were reported Sunday, one in a trash can near Foothill High School's tennis courts and the other on a home’s stove on Chocolate Street. Pleasanton police reported commercial burglaries in the past week at Sports Chalet and Wal-Mart.  Police also reported finding wandering in Wal-Mart's parking lot early Thursday. He was reunited with his mother.

Sunday, March 27

  • A 23-year-old man was arrested at 1:35 a.m.  He was charged with driving under the influence.
  • A traffic collision was reported on I-680 near Bernal Avenue at 2:10 p.m.
  • A traffic collision involving six vehicles was reported on I-580 westbound near the off-ramp of Hopyard Road at 4:33 p.m.
  • A 37-year-old man was arrested at 7:15 p.m.  He was charged with public intoxication.
  • A traffic collision was reported at the intersection of Hopyard Road and Coronado Lane at 8:31 p.m.

Monday, March 28

  • A 39-year-old man was arrested at 2:18 p.m.  He was charged with public intoxication.
  • A 43-year-old man was arrested at 3:17 p.m.  He was charged with public intoxication.
  • was reported on I-680 southbound near Bernal Avenue about 4 p.m.  
  • A vehicle fire was reported at the merge of I-580 eastbound and I-680 northbound at 5:18 p.m.
  • A residential burglary was reported on the 3300 block of Norton Way at 10:25 p.m.  Jewelry worth more than $100 was reported stolen.

Tuesday, March 29

  • A 24-year-old man was arrested at 11:56 a.m.  He was charged with petty theft and public intoxication.
  • A 22-year-old man was arrested at 3:25 p.m.  He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • A traffic collision as reported on the 5800 block of Stoneridge Mall Road in the east lot of Macy’s at 4:14 p.m.
  • A traffic collision was reported on I-580 westbound near Hopyard Road at 5:05 p.m.
  • Vandalism was reported on the 2700 block of Laramie Gate Circle at 6:50 p.m.

Wednesday, March 30

  • Petty theft was reported on the 4900 block of Hopyard Road at 9:17 a.m.
  • Theft was reported on the 4600 block of Chabot Drive at Iron Planet at 10:06 a.m.  A Dell laptop worth more than $1,600 was reported stolen.
  • A traffic collision was reported at the intersection of Santa Rita Road and Sutter Gate Avenue at 5:18 p.m.
  • A traffic collision involving a bicycle and vehicle was reported at the intersection of Santa Rita Road and Francisco Street at 5:59 p.m.
  • A 22-year-old man was arrested at 10:08 p.m.  He was charged with possession of marijuana for sale.

Thursday, March 31

  • was found in the early morning wandering in the parking lot of Wal-Mart.  
  • Theft was reported on the 100 block of Stoneridge Mall Road at Mobile Systems Wireless at 11:13 a.m. 
  • A traffic collision was reported at the intersection of Hopyard Road and Black Avenue at 1:40 p.m.
  • A traffic collision involving two vehicles was reported at the intersection of Santa Rita Road and Navajo Court at 3:31 p.m.
  • A traffic collision involving three vehicles on I-580 eastbound near Santa Rita Road was reported at 6:19 p.m.
  • A 35-year-old man was arrested at 7:06 p.m.  He was charged with domestic violence.
  • A 56-year-old man was arrested at 8:53 p.m.  He was charged with child endangerment.
  • A 59-year-old man was arrested at 10:26 p.m.  He was charged with public intoxication.

Friday, April 1

  • A 23-year-old man was arrested at 1:25 a.m.  He was charged with driving under the influence.
  • A commercial burglary was reported on the 4500 block of Rosewood Drive at Sports Chalet at 7:47 a.m. A rear door was broken in the burglary.
  • A traffic collision was reported at the intersection of Mohr Avenue and Kamp Drive at 7:55 a.m.
  • A traffic collision involving three vehicles was reported at the intersection of Vineyard Avenue and Touriga Drive at 7:56 a.m.
  • A commercial burglary was reported on the 4500 block of Rosewood Drive at Wal-Mart at 10:02 a.m. The lock of a rear door was bypassed in the burglary.
  • A traffic collision was reported on I-580 eastbound near Santa Rita Road at 2:51 p.m.

Saturday, April 2

  • Burglary was reported on the 200 block of Abbie Street at 8:29 a.m.
  • A 61-year-old man was arrested at 1:15 a.m. He was charged with driving under the influence. 
  • A 51-year-old man was arrested at 1:27 a.m.  He was charged with driving under the influence.
  • Vandalism was reported on the 500 block of Mission Drive at 6:24 p.m.

Sunday, April 3

  • Drug-related activity was reported on the 5300 block of Owens Court at 12:56 a.m.
  • A 28-year-old woman was arrested at 2:25 a.m.  She was charged with driving under the influence.
  • A 28-year-old man was arrested at 2:27 a.m.  He was charged with public intoxication.
  • A stove fire was reported on the 2800 block of Chocolate Street at 10:10 a.m.  A strong gas odor was reported from a stove on which a small fire had started on the appliance’s knob. The fire was extinguished by the reporting party.
  • Vandalism was reported on the 5500 block of Springhouse Drive at 10:19 a.m. 
  • A traffic collision in which a vehicle went down an embankment was reported on I-680 northbound near Castlewood Drive at 5:07 p.m.
  • A fire was reported in a trash can on the 4300 block of Foothill Road at Foothill High School at 8:53 p.m. The trash can was near the tennis courts.
