Police Log: Thieves Have Heyday With Unlocked Cars In Valley Trails, Vineyard Areas

Notable incidents encountered June 17 to 23.

Thieves preyed upon unlocked vehicles last week, with several cars hit in the Valley Trails and Vineyard-corridor neighborhoods, according to the .

Residents in the Valley Trails and Country Fair neighborhoods on Saturday morning reported thefts from vehicles parked along Paseo Catalina and Wind Cave Court.

Cars parked in the Vineyard Avenue area -- including on Half Dome Drive, El Capitan Drive, Whitney Drive, Chardonnay Place and Smoketree Commons Drive -- were hit sometime overnight from Thursday to Friday, reports state.

In all cases, there were no signs of forced entry and owners acknowledged their cars were likely unlocked, police said.

Stolen belongings included purses, cash, phones, phone chargers, wallets, credit cards and, in one case, a gun holster, according to filings.

Law enforcement reminds citizens to always lock and leave nothing of value in parked vehicles.

  • Two reports of tobacco furnished to minors: 11:33 a.m. on 4100 First Street; 11:59 a.m. on 100 Spring Street.
  • Vandalism reported on 4500 First Street at 9:23 a.m. and 3:46 p.m.; property damage 11:59 a.m. on 4300 Valley Avenue.
  • A male, 19, was arrested at 3:44 p.m. on Foothill Knolls and Prairie drives for suspected possession of metal knuckles.

  • A Pleasanton man, 26, was arrested for alleged drunk-and-disorderly conduct at 11:57 p.m. along 1800 Santa Rita Road.
  • Marijuana possession reported at 11:48 p.m. on the 9000 block of Longview Drive.
  • Vandalism logged 4:12 p.m. on 4500 Pleasanton Avenue.
  • Battery and fraud/theft reported on the 2600 block of Gapwell Court at 12:19 a.m.
  • Identity theft cited at 8:38 a.m. on 4200 Rosewood Drive.
  • Thefts reported: 8:50 a.m. along 3100 Paseo Robles; 4:20 p.m. on 4700 Willow Road; 6:54 p.m. on 1600 Stoneridge Mall Road.

  • Burglaries reported 7:47 p.m. on 1400 Valley Avenue, and 9:13 p.m. on 7000 Commerce Circle.
  • Car break-in logged 9:24 a.m. on 1700 Santa Rita Road; reported missing were a stereo face-plate and sunglasses, valued at a combined $105.
  • Stolen vehicle recovered on Siena Street and Giorgio Court at 6:29 p.m.
  • A Pleasanton man, 45, was arrested at 7:38 p.m. on the 2300 block of Redberry Court for suspected public intoxication, threatening/resisting officers, disorderly conduct and cruelty to elder or dependant individual.
  • Grand theft recorded at 8:13 p.m. along 4200 Diavila Avenue.
  • Thefts included: $259 navigation unit and other items from a car at 6:42 a.m. on 5500 Baldwin Way; and suspected shoplifting at 7:26 p.m. on 1500 Stoneridge Mall Road, in which a woman was arrested.
