Police Searching for Suspect Trying to Rob Pharmacies of Narcotics

The suspect may have tried to rob more than one pharmacy in more than one city in Tri-Valley in the last two days.

From Pleasanton Police Department:

The Pleasanton Police Department is investigating two attempted pharmacy robberies that may be related.

At 12:37 p.m. today Pleasanton Police patrol units responded to the Rite-Aid Pharmacy located at 2819 Hopyard Road. A pharmacy employee reported that a male suspect entered the pharmacy and presented a note stating the suspect had a gun and demanding that they give him opiate-based prescription narcotics. The pharmacy staff did not comply and the suspect fled the store on foot. No weapon was seen and nobody was injured during this incident.

The suspect is described as an unshaven white male in his early 30’s, 5’-2” to 5’-3” tall and weighing about 130 to 140 pounds. He was also described as having a very red facial complexion. He was wearing a light brown jacket and brown beanie cap.

A similar attempted robbery occurred at 6:15 p.m. yesterday at the Lucky pharmacy on 6155 West Las Positas Boulevard in Pleasanton. In that incident, a lone suspect also presented a demand note for opiate-based prescription narcotics and claimed to have a gun. That suspect also fled without any narcotics. No weapon was seen and nobody was injured during that incident as well.

That suspect is described as an unshaven white or middle Eastern male, age 30 to 40 years old, 5’8” tall and 190 pounds. He was wearing a blue shirt and grey sweat pants.

Anybody with information about these crimes is encouraged to call the Pleasanton Police Department at (925) 951-5100. Pleasanton Police are working with the Dublin and Livermore Police Departments to determine if these two attempted robberies are related to recent similar crimes in those jurisdictions.
