A Livermore man suspected of stabbing another man in Pleasanton two weeks ago appeared in court today after being arrested in Manteca on
Monday, authorities said.
Jesse Serpa, 33, was taken into custody by Livermore police in his sister's neighborhood in Manteca in San Joaquin County around 6 p.m. Monday.
Serpa had been identified as a suspect in the Nov. 14 stabbing of
a 30-year-old Livermore man at an apartment complex at 3819 Vineyard Ave. in Pleasanton.
Pleasanton police responded to the apartment at 9 p.m. that night and found a man with a single stab wound to his chest.
Police said it appears the two men were arguing and had started physically fighting, when Serpa allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the victim once before running away.
The victim was hospitalized with an injury that was not considered life-threatening.
Pleasanton investigators worked with Livermore police to track Serpa to his sister's home. After his arrest, Serpa was booked into the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on suspicion of attempted murder.
He was arraigned at the Gale Schenone Hall of Justice in Pleasanton at 1:30 p.m. today and will return to court Friday to enter a plea, an Alameda County district attorney's spokeswoman said.
