A person committed suicide near downtown Pleasanton on Tuesday afternoon around 2 p.m., police said Wednesday.

Residents contacted a Pleasanton Patch staff member because they heard gunshots and said they were concerned about crime, but police said it was a suicide and they would not be releasing any details about the person who died, only saying it was not a teen or youth.
