Unattended Stovetop Causes House Fire; Resident Found Inside Semi-Conscious

Officials say the person passed out because of a medical condition after turning on the stove.

A woman passed out after turning on a stovetop, and eventually that started a house fire around 6:50 p.m. Thursday, fire officials said.

A neighbor called the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department after smelling smoke in the area of a house on South Platt Court. Firefighters arrived to find the home filled with smoke, and a semi-conscious woman inside, Battalion Chief Joe Testa said in a statement.

They found no other victims inside, nor were there pets.
