UPDATE: Crews Clear Scene of Natural Gas Leak

A school was ordered to shelter in place and homes on the 1800 block of Mt. Diablo Way were evacuated after a gas line was struck.

A natural gas leak this morning evacuated homes and temporarily forced a school to shelter in place, said Jeff Peters, Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department battalion chief.

At around 9 a.m., firefighters were sent to the 1800 block of Mt. Diablo Way, off Scenic Avenue, for a report of a possible gas leak.

A crew installing a fence at a residence accidently struck a gas line, Peters said.
