Week in Review: Faelz Murder Suspect Due in Court, YouTube Video Helps Raise $85,000 and Pet Owner's Plea

Tina Faelz case: Steven J. Carlson, the man accused of murdering 14-year-old Tina Faelz almost 30 years ago as she walked home from school, is due to appear in court in Oakland on Monday for a preliminary examination. Patch will have more on this story as it develops.

Mountain lion sighting: Pleasanton police say they received a call of a mountain lion sighting in the area of Moller Ranch and Foothill Road on Monday evening. A Patch reader emailed and said they saw the large cat in the brush around 6 p.m. Pleasanton Police were not able to confirm the sighting but offered tips and information about mountain lions. Neighborhood shut down: The neighborhood surrounding the 9000 block of Blessing Drive was shut down briefly while Pleasanton Police investigated a residential burglary. A Nixle alert was sent out warning residents to avoid the area. The area was reopened soon after.

YouTube video helps Fairlands Elementary: Parents at Fairlands Elementary got their creativity on and created a YouTube video using new lyrics to the tune of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" song of kids from Fairlands which was played during the school's first gala fundraiser in September. The video and gala helped to raise over $85,000 for the school.

Pet owner's plea: A fifteen-year-old's dog was taken during a residential burglary this week. The dog was a pug named Holly. The pet owner contacted Patch asking for help to find her dog and bring her home safely. Look closely at Holly to help find her.
