Workday Donates Hybrid D.A.R.E Car to Pleasanton Police

The Hybrid Chevrolet Tahoe is replacing a 1997 Chevrolet Suburban D.A.R.E. car.

Information from Pleasanton Police--

The Pleasanton Police Department and Workday’s Co-CEO, Dave Duffield, have partnered to strengthen drug and violence prevention education in Pleasanton schools. D.A.R.E., Drug Abuse Resistance Education, is a nationally recognized youth outreach program aimed at reducing drug abuse and violence among school aged youth. Pleasanton Police have been teaching D.A.R.E. in Pleasanton Unified School District for the past 25 years.  The program has proven to forge significant relationships between the community, school district and police department.

Pleasanton based Workday is an excellent example of a successful community partnership. Dave Duffield and Workday are strongly committed to supporting the Pleasanton community in a variety of ways and demonstrated that commitment to our youth by generously donating funds for the newest edition to the Pleasanton Police Department vehicle fleet allowing the department to replace its aging 1997 Chevrolet Suburban D.A.R.E. vehicle.

With Dave and Workday’s support, the department purchased a new “Hybrid” Chevrolet Tahoe, which is far more fuel efficient and aligned with the City’s commitment to environmental sustainability initiatives. The new vehicle is fully outfitted as an emergency vehicle for the D.A.R.E. Officers and is eye-catching to draw the attention of the youth in the community in an effort to further strengthen the department’s anti drug and violence message.

Technology integrated into the vehicle includes video and audio equipment to be used for various presentations and interactive lessons in the schools and at community events.  Chief Dave Spiller commented, “This vehicle will be an effective tool to help the Police Department increase community outreach, connect with our youth and partner with our business community to successfully spread a critical anti- drug and violence message.”
