Broken Water Main Leaves Customers on Foothill Road Without Water

The pipe is estimated to be repaired by midday, according to the Director of Operations for City of Pleasanton.

City officials confirmed that a water main broke on Monday in the area of Carver Lane leaving customers in the area without water since about 3 p.m. yesterday. Carver Lane is south of the Pleasanton Ridge-Foothill Staging area.

Daniel Smith, the Director of Operations for City of Pleasanton, says about 12 houses are without water.

"At about 3 p.m. yesterday we were called for water leak and we immediately dispatched crew to the site," Smith said. "The crew was at the site all night last night working on the repair. After digging, they uncovered the main and discovered a steel pipe. The crew tried to put a 'wrap' to repair it temporarily but because it is at a bend in the pipe, needed to be rewelded."

Smith added, "We were lucky and were able to get a hold of our contract welder who has been working on it all night."

Smith is estimating that the repairs are almost complete and the homes affected will have water by midday.
