Affordable Health Care Services for Women

The Maternal Paternal Child & Adolescent Unit of Alameda County Public Health has launched a social marketing campaign to encourage young women in Alameda County to call the Public Health Clearinghouse toll free (1- 888-604-4636) for information about where to get high quality, low cost women’s health services, including pregnancy tests and prenatal care.

“We are organizing this campaign,” explained  MPCAH Coordinator Anna Gruver, “because there are many sources of misinformation in the community about where to access these services.  Young women are sometimes directed to health resources that may not meet their needs or provide them with complete information.”

The campaign targets low income women of reproductive age through public transit advertising, posters and wallet cards.  Interested women can participate by visiting a clinic or physician listed among the Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program and Presumptive Eligibility Medi-Cal Providers. NOTE: These offices accept Medi-Cal and can provide temporary Medi-Cal under the state’s Presumptive Eligibility Program.

They provide pregnancy care, nutritional advice, health education, referrals to community resources and other services.
