The forum, on September 13, is hosted by the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce. Will you be going?

Submitted by: The Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce

With election season right around the corner, the is hosting a Candidates Forum, featuring the city council and mayoral candidates. The forum, which is a free event and open to the public, will be held in the Veterans Memorial Building in downtown Pleasanton on Thursday, September 13 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

The candidates will face questions about community priorities, including transportation, workforce housing and unfunded pension liabilities to help business leaders as well as community members learn of the differences between the six candidates vying for three seats.

Current council members Jerry Thorne and Cheryl Cook-Kallio are competing to succeed Jennifer Hosterman who will term-out as mayor after an eight-year run. Karla Brown, Erlene DeMarcus, Mike Harris and Jerry Pentin are running for the two spots on the council.

Moderating the forum as he did two years ago will be Brad Hirst, a 44-year resident of Pleasanton and owner of Equity Enterprises.

The Chamber is a non-profit organization that relies on the support of its members and the local business community. For further information on the Candidates Forum and the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, visit www.pleasanton.org.

Cheryl is gong to be the next mayor. Jerry is a nice guy and all but he lacks vision and leadership. I'm afraid he will just maintain the status quo. We need someone like Cheryl who can use her ability to bring people together to move the city forward and quell the bickering.

Jerry Pentin stood out by far as the most experiences and knowledgeble council candidtate on the issues and opportunities for Pleasanton. Pleasanton needs his leadership!
