Food Workers, Castlewood Country Club Reach Agreement After 3-Year Dispute

Union food workers at Castlewood Country Club are declaring victory after a three-year contract struggle with club management came to an end earlier this month, UNITE HERE Local 2850 said in press release Thursday. Harvest Park Middle School students competed in Sacramento on Feb. 8 in the annual California Educational Theatre Association Middle Stage Drama Fest. The eighth grade students prepared for five weeks to perform “Born to Hand Jive” from Grease, which won them first place.

Local Kids Donate to SPCA For Their Valentine's Day Celebration

Walnut Grove elementary students join others from around the Tri-Valley in voting to give up their Valentine's Day goodies to help animals instead. In lieu of exchanging Valentine's treats, Erin Diaz's third-graders collected $161 for the East Bay SPCA and in return got a visit Friday from a cat and dog brought by Joelle Cook from the SPCA in Dublin

MC Hammer Gets the Slammer for 'Obstructing and Resisting an Officer'

Rapper MC Hammer, best known for his puffy pants and 1990 hit song, "U Can't Touch This," was arrested by Dublin Police Services on Feb. 21 at the Hacienda Crossings Shopping Center in Dublin. Hammer was booked and released into the Santa Rita Jail for obstructing an officer in the performance of their duties and resisting an officer.
