Housing Element Task Force Membership Deadline Extended

Wanted: five at-large members.

The city of Pleasanton is working to meet requirements in the housing cap settlement agreement. This includes updating the city's Housing Element, which identifies and analyzes housing needs for residents of all income levels.

During the Sept. 7 City Council meeting, councilmembers started the update process by hiring the firm Baird + Driskell Community Planning to lead the effort.

The cost of the update process is estimated at $119,580.

The city also approved creation of an 11-member ad hoc Housing Element Task Force. It will be composed of two members each from the Housing and Planning commissions, two from the City Council and five from the public.

The task force will allow for community discussion, ensure that the housing and planning commissions are informed, and provide recommendations and input to the draft update.
