Free Financial Fitness Expo for Seniors

Financial Fitness Expo will be held on Saturday, October 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Pleasanton Senior Center.

The City of Pleasanton will host a FREE 55+ Financial Fitness Expo on Saturday, October 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Pleasanton Senior Center, 5353 Sunol Boulevard in Pleasanton.

According to the U.S.Government Accountability Office, couples who are both aged 62 years have a 47% chance that at least one of them will live to their 90th birthday. When retirement plans are terminated or underfunded, and/or retirement savings are spent early, Americans run the risk of not having sufficient income at their disposal throughout their retirement.

This event will feature objective information geared to adults ages 55 and older on how to obtain the financial fitness necessary for a long and sustainable retirement. It includes workshops by experts in their fields and exhibitors with information about services and products to help navigate retirement planning.

Keynote speaker Steve Wilcox will speak on the topic of “You’re Retiring, Your Money Can’t at 9:15 a.m. Wilcox is a founding partner of Summit Financial Group in San Ramon and is a popular speaker throughout the region on a wide variety of financial topics.  A second presentation at 1:15 p.m. is entitled “Strategies for Maximizing Retirement Income”.

A number of workshops are also scheduled for the event, including: Seven Ways to Protect Your Money in Retirement; Beneficiaries—Who’s Going to Get Your Money?; Estate Planning 101; Estate Planning 201—Beyond the Basics; Financial Fraud Prevention—Steps to Avoiding Scams; Welcome to Medicare; Long-Term Care; Veteran’s Benefits; Getting Your House in Order—Advance Directives and End-of-Life Issues; Downsizing Made Easy; and Ten Things You Should Know About Social Security.
