Pleasanton Election 2012: Who's In and Who's Out

The Mayor's seat is becoming available along with two seats in the City Council race.

The final filing date for candidates to file papers to have their name on the November 2012 ballot was Aug. 10.

Here is a rundown of the candidates you will see on the ballot.

There are two seats open in the City Council race along with the spot for mayor.

Cheryl Cook-Kallio and Jerry Thorne are competing for Mayor Jennifer Hosterman'sΒ slot. Hosterman is not up for re-election this year.

Karla Brown, Erlene DeMarcus, Mike Harris and Jerry Pentin have all filed their candidacy papers in the council race. Councilmembers Cindy McGovern and Matt Sullivan's terms are up in November and they are not seeking re-election, leaving their seats up for grabs.

The Pleasanton school board election will not be on the November ballot. That's because there are only three candidates for three open slots.

School board incumbents Valerie Arkin, Chris Grant and Jamie Yee Hintzke all filed their candidacy papers. Challenger Sean Kullman took out papers but didn't return them in time.
