Pleasanton in East Bay Top 10 of City Worker Wages

Pleasanton paid its 881 employees more in wages per resident than all but five East Bay cities in 2012, according to figures recently released by the State Controller.

The $52 million paid in wages to city employees in 2012 works out to $695 per resident. The East Bay average in 2012 was $482.

The city paid its workers $74 million in 2012 when health benefits and retirement contributions are included. In 2009, the sum was $66 million. The cost of health benefits and retirement nearly doubled between 2009 and 2012, according to the State Controller’s public employee compensation website.
