Jerry Thorne is Pleasanton's New Mayor

He defeats Cheryl Cook-Kallio to succeed Jennifer Hosterman.

Pleasanton voters have elected Jerry Thorne as the city's new mayor, according to unofficial election results.

Thorne defeated six-year City Council member Cheryl Cook-Kallio, winning the seat with almost 55 percent of the vote.

In response Wednesday morning, Cook-Kallio thanked her supporters in an email to Pleasanton Patch.

"I have the highest respect for Jerry and wish him the best as he leads our city," she wrote.

ThorneΒ is currently vice mayor and has been on the Pleasanton City Council since 2005.

Mayor Jennifer Hosterman was termed out as mayor and not seeking re-election.
