Child Care Worker Who Taped Toddler Files Appeal

Angela Calcagno of Livermore has filed an appeal with the Department of Social Services after she was banned from working in care facilities as a result of an investigation into allegations she taped a toddler's hands and feet for refusing to nap at the Centerpointe Christian Preschool in Pleasanton. The Alameda County District Attorney's Office is reviewing the case, to determine if criminal charges against Calcagno will be filed. 

Centerpointe released a statement on Wednesday about another incident where a substitute teacher pinched and squeezed the arm of a child at the preschool in February. Pleasanton Woman Identified as Victim of Fatal I-580 Collision

after a collision on I-580 in Livermore on April 2.  Pelillo was the passenger and the driver, Pelillo's 22-year-old son, was critically injured. The car flew off a railroad over crossing and crashed into a hillside. Friends and family are mourning the loss of Pelillo. Read their thoughts here:

Boy Running With Airsoft Gun Alarms Residents, Prompts School Lockdown 

Pleasanton residents near the Fairland Drive and Pimlico Drive area were alarmed Wednesday morning when they thought they saw a young man running around the neighborhood holding a rifle and wearing body armor. Police ordered a shelter in place of a nearby preschool. Officers located the suspect, but he turned out to be a 16-year-old boy with an airsoft gun, which looks very similar to a rifle.
