Tonight's City Council Meeting: Housing Cap Settlement, Youth Master Plan Approval, Weed Abatement, DSRSD Connection Fee Increase

The City Council meets tonight to discuss a number of issues.

The council will discuss a tentative agreement reached in regards to the housing cap lawsuit with Urban Habitat, Public Advocates and the Office of Attorney General Jerry Brown.

The consent calendar includes an amendment to the 2009-2010 BudgetΒ  to reflect a $200,000 to Tri-Valley REACH (formerly HOUSE Inc.), for acquiring a residential property for developmentally-disabled adults.The allocation is through the City's Housing and Human Services Grant Program.

The City Council will also approve the Pleasanton Youth Master Plan, which updates and outlines city youth services for the next ten years or so. The plan has been in the works since 2008. It was put together through as series of discussions with youth and community members.

The City Council will also look to approve construction contracts for a curb and gutter project and slurry sealing project. The council is also looking to approve a consultant agreement for project plans, estimates and environmental certification for safety improvements to the I-580/Foothill Road Interchange.

Public hearings will be held for the following issues:

  • Extending the development agreement between the City of Pleasanton and Pleasanton Gateway for an eight-building, 745,000 square feet building at 6750 Bernal Avenue for an additional seven years. The site is approximately 39.22 acres.
  • Consider an application for modifying a rear yard at 927 Montevino Drive.
  • Consider issues related to the Annual Weed Abatement Program and adopt a resolution declaring costs of the program, special assessment and lien imposed on specific properties that need weed abatement.

In the Operation Services department, the council will consider a recommendation from the CommitteeΒ  on Energy and Environment to support state legislation that would ban use of plastic bags and foam food containers.

The Council is also looking to ratify a sewer connection fee adjustment for 2010-2011 according to changes made by the Dublin San Ramon Services District. The fee was increased by $461 for single-family units starting Aug. 1.

Finally, the council will declare the results of the June 8 election concerning Measure D. The Alameda County Registrar of Voters has certified the results of the election, where 18,362 ballots were cast.

8,174 voted 'Yes' and 9,544 voted 'No' for the 51-housing development plan on the Oak Grove property.
