Week in Review: Jockey Killed in Accident, Bird Causes Fire, "Bath Salts" and Staggered School Schedule

Some of the stories that made news this past week in Pleasanton.

Jockey killed in riding accident: Jockey Jorge Herrera was killed in a freak accident during a horse race at the Alameda County Fair in Pleasanton. Before the race began on Friday, there was a to remember the Herrera died after being thrown from his horse. He was taken to Eden Medical Center with severe head injuries where he was pronounced dead.

Power outage in Pleasanton: A bird downed a power line in Pleasanton on Tuesday, which cause a small grass fire and power outage for about 3200 PG&E customers in town. The fire was quickly contained and the power was fully restored by the next morning. 

Synthetic drugs on the radar: Do you know what your kids are talking about when they say "bath salts" or "spice"? If not, you better read here.

PUSD Staggered Schedule: Pleasanton Unified School District released more info this week about next year's staggered school schedule for grades 1-3.
