"We March for Joplin" will be held from 12-6 p.m. Oct. 1 at Amador Valley High School, 1155 Santa Rita Road.

Joplin was hit by a devastating tornado in May, which displaced more than 62 percent of the town’s student body, and left music students without adequate uniforms and instruments.

Amador Valley Band Aid, established by AVHS and the Band Council, chose Joplin because of the great need and their ability to make a positive impact on another band facing tough times, according to a press release.

“Our first year, Band Aid sent community-donated instruments to Moos Elementary in Chicago, assisting music students who had been excluded from their program due to a lack of resources,” said Jon Grantham, AVHS Director of Bands.

“We hope the community will once again make a difference in young student’s lives by helping the kids in Joplin.”
