AVHS Principal Announces Retirement

Principal Bill Coupe of Amador Valley High School will retire after 13 years at the school.

The Pleasanton Unified School District announced today that Bill Coupe, principal of Amador Valley High School, will retire June 30. Coupe has been at the school for 13 years since 1998.Β  He was also a math teacher in Livermore and served as an assistant principal in Dublin.Β 

Myla Grasso, spokesperson for the district, said in an e-mail that the announcement was made today to staff.

"We're sorry to see him go, but we understand and certainly wish him good luck," said Grasso.

Grasso said the district is now discussing a timeline and selection process for a new principal.

"The school has shown progress in the years that Principal Couple has been there," said Grasso. "Student achievement continues to improve ... they really focus on the whole child, not just classroom education but also outside of it."
