PUSD Board of Trustees Election: Who's In and Who's Out

None of the incumbents up for re-election will be running again this fall. There are currently two candidates officially running in the elections, another person has "pulled papers."

Two seats on the Board of Trustees will be determined this fall. Only newcomers have put their names into the race and neither incumbents up for re-election say they are running.

If no incumbents file by the end of today, the deadline to file for candidacy will be moved to Aug. 11.

  • Jim Ott: Ott announced earlier this year that he will not run for the Board this November. President and CEO of UNCLE Credit Union, Ott was first appointed May 2006. He was elected in November 2006.
  • Pat Kernan: Kernan said he will not be running again this November. He said the decision was a tough one, but that it was time for him to step aside so newcomers are able to run for the positions. An attorney by profession, Kernan was first appointed to office in November 1997. He was elected in 2001 and was re-elected in 2006.

Filing Completed: This person has been certified by the Alameda County Registrar of Voters and is an official candidate for elections.

  • Sandy Piderit: Visiting Associate Professor at Naval Postgraduate School. Served on the school site council for Alisal Elementary School. Appointed to Parlamentarian position for the Pleasanton Parent Teacher Association Council.
  • Joan Laursen: 2009 - 2010 president of Pleasanton's Parent Teacher Association Counci

Issued Declaration of Candidacy: These individuals had begun filing their candidacy papers with the Alameda County Registrar of Voters Office as of July 18:

  • Jeff Bowser: Serves as Legislative Chair for the Parent Teacher Association Council.
