Kevin Laue, the first one-armed basketball player to receive a scholarship to an elite NCAA Division 1 basketball team, and an Amador Valley graduate, will be joining the Pleasanton community to watch his documentary "Long Shot" at Amador on May 3.

Thanks to Bell Sports Medicine who sponsored the event, the documentary will be shown on a 40 foot screen on the football field at sundown.

Amador's athletic director, Lou Cesario, is thrilled to have Kevin Laue on campus and will be awarding Laue with an Amador Inspiration Award before the screening.

Laue, who has inspired millions with his documentary “Long Shot” is still planning to inspire more people when he returns to Amador on May 3rd.

“I have a plethora of memories from attending Amador both good and bad. The thing I remember most is not fully appreciating how great the school, faculty, and academics are. I truly took it for granted. Now that I am a few years older and wiser, I hope to connect with many of the current students and open their eyes on how to maximize their potential.”

Laue is anxious to be returning to Amador “I'm incredibly excited to revisit my old stomping grounds, although nervous. In some way speaking to 5,500 people in Taiwan or the Google headquarters was easier than the thought of speaking in front of some of my old teachers, who know more about me than I'd like to admit.”

Pre-sale tickets are available for $5 at the AVHS activities desk and sold for $8 at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m. and food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the night at the football field snack shack.

Pleasanton and nearby residents are encouraged to bring their blankets and enjoy a fun family and community night at Amador Valley High School. Any extra proceeds will be donated to upgrade Amador Valley baseball's facilities.
