School District Asking for Parent Input for Possible Change to Instructional Calendar

Pleasanton Unified School District Superintendent Parvin Ahmadi is asking parents to take an online survey to give their input about the proposed schedule changes to the school year.

Ahmadi sent the following letting to parents in the district earlier this week:

Dear Families,  Beginning with a Board presentation in October of 2013, there has been considerable time and attention focused on a possible change to the instructional calendar.

In an effort to inform the community, an informational web site was developed, public forums were held, school newsletter announcements were sent, along with other forms of communication. The proposed calendar options were also discussed at Board meetings on May 27th and June 3rd.  

A survey is now available for parents to express their view of the various calendar options. The deadline to complete the survey is June 9th.  

To access the survey, please visit the link below. In order to verify that you have a student currently enrolled in Pleasanton Unified, you will be asked to enter the Student ID number and the year of birth for your child. If you have more than one student you are able to take the survey for each of your children. Paper versions are available at your child’s school.  

We encourage you to take the time to read the materials available on the district web site explaining the options under consideration, the merits and benefits of each, as well as the challenges and concerns.  

Please note that the chapterized version of the May 27th Board meeting presentation on the instructional calendar is available on the district website. At the next Board meeting on June 17, the 2015/16 Instructional Calendar will be an item for report, discussion, and possible action.
