At its Tuesday meeting, the unanimously approved a tentative agreement between the district and the Association of Pleasanton Teachers (APT), resulting in $2.335 million worth of concessions.
This tentative agreement includes increasing class sizes at middle and high school, up to four un-paid furlough days, contingent upon passage of the tax initiative in November, and suspending the Teacher Support and Advisory Committee.
As a part of this tentative agreement, The District and APT also entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish a one-year pilot program for collaboration. In order to allow time for teacher collaboration, high school students will again have a late start time every Wednesday for the 2012-2013 school year. Elementary and Middle school will continue having late start on Wednesday, as they have had in the past.
The district also unanimously accepted the $722,914.00 gift donation from the Pleasanton Schools Education Enrichment Foundation (PSEE), per Resolution No. 2011-12.15 that was approved at the December 13, 2011 School Board
Meeting. The gift will benefit the students of the District by supplementing funding for programs in the categories of music, arts, science and performing arts.
The Board heard a report on Honors Chemistry for high school. This item will be brought back for approval at the May 22, 2012 Board Meeting.
The Board approved English Language Arts material adoption for . Teachers will be trained on the new curriculum to be used for the 2012-2013 school year.
Board Policies series 2000 and Board Policy 3553 were also approved by the Board on a second reading. These policies will be posted on the District website.
The Board unanimously approved resolutions to recognize Day of The Teacher, May 9th 2012 and Classified Employees Week, May 20-26, 2012.
The PUSD invites members of the community to a Town Hall meeting of the Facilities Master Plan process. The Town Hall is scheduled for Wednesday, May 16, 2012, 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the Multipurpose Room of the Pleasanton Middle School.
