Week in Review: Fight Leads to Stabbing, Stranger at School, Police Commander Arrested

Fight Leads to Stabbing, Suspect Identified

A after a fight. According to the Pleasanton Police Department, he man was stabbed by another man, who was known to him. The 30-year-old victim from Livermore was taken to Eden Medical Center with single stab wound to his chest. The stabbing took place at the apartment complex located at 3819 Vineyard Avenue.

Pleasanton Police say the victim identified the suspect as 33-year-old Jesse Serpa of Livermore. A no-bail warrant has been issued for Serpa’s arrest.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crime or who has information relating to the Serpa's whereabouts is encouraged to call the Pleasanton Police Department at 925-931-5100.

Former Police Commander Arrested and Second Suspect Sought

Matthew Messier, formerly of the Pinole Police Department, was arrested on numerous counts and Elizabeth Regalado, Messier's wife, is still outstanding. There is a warrant out for Regalado's arrest. The 82-year-old victim is a Pleasanton resident and property owner, and was being defrauded by the suspects, Messier, 36, of Pleasanton, and Elizabeth Regalado, 30, his wife.

Broken Gas Line Evacuated Businesses

A broken gas line caused an evacuation of Target and BJ's Brewhouse in Dublin on Monday morning. People inside both businesses were evacuated after the Alameda County Fire Department responded to a call of a possible gas leak at 2800 Dublin Boulevard around 9:45 a.m. The line, which had been broken during construction, was quickly repaired and businesses remained open. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Stranger Encounter at Fairlands Elementary

School officials, staff and parents are on alert after an unidentified woman and teenage passenger drove by the gate of Fairlands Elementary on Nov. 16 and offered a child candy to get into their car. The child did not get into the car and told their parent, who notified the school. Pleasanton Police were called and officers took a report after checking the area for the suspects and car.

Raley's-Nob Hill Strike Over

Union representatives and management for the Raley's-Nob Hill Food markets reached an agreement after both parties returned to the bargaining table at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. By and the employees on the picket line went back to work. Details of the new contract have not been released. Workers had been on strike since been on strike since Nov. 4 at 6 a.m. after a disagreement over wages and medical benefits. Hundreds turned out in support for the workers on strike at a rally held on Nov. 8 in Alameda.

Livermore Pleasanton Fire Battalion Chief-Training Officer Retiring

30-year-veteran Fire Battalion Chief-Training Officer Chris Johnson of the Livermore Pleasanton Fire Department retired on November 16, 2012. Johnson's traditional last roll call took place on Friday, Nov. 16 at 11:30 a.m. in front of the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Headquarters, 3560 Nevada Street in Pleasanton.

Joe Madden: Diabetes Awareness and Smartphone Application


What do you know about Type 1 Diabetes? Joe Madden got a crash course on the subject after learning that his son had the disease. Madden designed a smartphone application help juvenile diabetics and their caretakers through engagement and behavioral modification. Gluco-Share is a free mobile device monitoring service that helps the caretaker know the child's status or blood sugar number, even when the caretaker is not with them.
